Taken from his interview on Team 1040 around 3:30pm
- Luongo is happy it's done before training camp and looking forward to starting the season
- He feels that the team is going forward towards winning and Mike Gillis has shown him that the Stanley Cup is the club's goal
- Early June, Luongo told Gillis that he was willing to commit long-term, and then all the negotiation was between Gillis and Luongo's agent
- The 12 year term only came into talks last week
- Luongo says he never wanted to leave, he loves the city and the team and always wanted to stay
- Luongo doesn't think there's going to be any extra pressure because he's already the captain of a Canadian hockey team so the pressure is already at max level
- Likes playing in a Canadian city because of the love for the game
- Thinks it's unfair that most people (like a lot of people here on CDC) are judging him by that last game vs. Chicago
- Gillis told Luongo that he wanted to sign the Sedins so Luongo committed to the Canucks even before they were officially signed
- Luongo says the Stanley Cup is more important than winning Gold in the Olympics
- Luongo really liked the team last year and he thinks they will be even better this year, especially with the GM and owners genuinely wanting to win
- Joke about renaming GM Place "Roberto Luongo Place"
