At first I thought it was stupid, but it makes sense that they want to seperate the ultra hardcore stuff from mainstream. They tried that with X38 and x48 with the Extreme Edition processors, but that didn't work at all. Motherboard manufacturers just ran the P35 and P45 at the exact same timings as the Extreme chipsets, which kind of screwed Intel up.
On the bright side, P55 motherboards will be a lot cheaper than the X58's that are out there now. They should be priced "normally"

yeah i always wondered, what does the new i5 i7 mean? i was pissed when i heard about it cuz i thought they were just killing what i have off. but i guess not?
im not gonna have to go get a new mobo when i wanna upgrade cpu's right!?
