If you testify that you were speeding, then the JP will accept your testimony as an admission of guilt. Speeding is an absoloute liability offense..1 km over is speeding. Unless it was a life and death situation where someone else's driving left you absoloutely no other option than to speed, you are guilty. Never seen one of those ever come up in court where the JP said it was OK to speed. If you are slowing for a red light and an 18 wheeler is coming up behind you fast and the only thing to do to escape being rear-ended and killed, is to accelerate over the limit & immediately pull to one side...that would be an acceptable circumstance. The fact that you choose to speed to make a lane change, instead of slowing down, or remaining where you are, or going around the block and coming back, is NOT a life or death circumstance in my experience.
