My friend and I watched it, and we thought it was one of the worst movie we saw this summer.

I'm usually OK with gory stuff, but because the camera was shaking so much in the beginning, I literally felt like puking throughout the whole movie.

We are wondering why did everyone like it so much? Was it the action? Or was there a message in between we missed out?

To us, the movie was a man who got infected with some alien virus, and he has to go around to find a solution for it. In the end, he failed and the end. Add lots of body explosions and we get District 9. So what are my friend and I missing out?
