I thought i read or heard that OEM manual trans fluid was synthetic. I searched letters and bulletins from Honda, but couldn't find anything about the fluid being synthetic.
Honda's used to use engine oil as manual trans oil. Honda Genuine MTF first came out around 1996. I remember it did fix a "moaning" noise from some of the trans/diff's during turns. Before that fluid came out, we were suggested to use ATF to solve that problem. The Honda Genuine MTF was improved in 06/07. Said to offer better overall shift quality in cold weather (especially in freezing temps), and better friction reduction for improved fuel economy longer trans service life
