Yeah but assistant captain has been so widely used by even hockey players themselves that it has come to be an accepted term as well.
I perfer the terminology of captain as well just for its simplicity. Ask anyone not too well versed with hockey to venture a guess what "C" stood for and what "A" stood for and I guarantee you, everyone will refer to it as "Assistant?"
Using Alternate just makes it seem like, giving a Lot Boy in a dealership the title of Lot Associate. Its more complicated just for the sake of sounding "nicer." Kinda
