I did a little bit of digging into the KEFs and they seem decent, though a little overpriced. To me, they resembled computer-type speakers (like the Logitechs) that would not provide enough clarity or punch in the low end.
I'm a little biased towards Energy - my dad had a few of their speakers in his day and they were always decent speakers for the price.
