That's because the picture itself is still the save size and still all has to be loaded. It just scales it (not an actual resize) so that when people post HUGE images, they still fit on a normal screen and dont throw the whole thread page out of wack.
If you right click on any of these images (with firefox anyways) and select properties, you'll see the actual real size of the image, and the size that it scaled (shrunk) it down to. |
