I really want to see who's man enough to actually do this and know what to do to not get burnt afterwards. I've been in prop mgmt so i've seen the bad and the ugly side of things.
Those who are coming are usually rich people already because attending Olympics is not a cheap event. If you're a punk, good luck trying to sound professional renting out to a family of 5 from Europe when you respond your emails like "yeah, i have a dope place to rent, it's close to sky train and reallly cool, lol"
There are deposits you have to take before they come, there are contracts you have to sign, there are emergencies phone numbers you "SHOULD" provide in case your pipes bursts or if the garage door doesn't work at your apartment etc. (Check your property mgmt as they might have banned the owners from rentals)
Just an example: What if they leave 3 days before the end of the contract and they trash you place? You need compensation for this and no, having their CC is not going to help cause how are you going to bill them? what if they take your plasma tv, break your fridge?
If someone got high, breaks a window, bleeds himself, calls the cop, file a report, your apartment manager comes up and sees you rented the place out. BAM, you'll be slapped with a fine and insurance will not pay out this 2 million dollar insurance for future income of this olympian for his future years.. etc.. again, HIGHLY unlikely but hey, you're in America... gotta protect yourself right?
Last thing, what if he doesn't leave after 3 weeks. You have to go thru court and NO you can't call the cops to throw him out.
On the opposite end: How do you prove the apartment is yours? You could be renting your buddy's place and next thing you know, you call the cops saying you have 5 foreigners in your house and take my 20K?
just my 2 cents, but definitely keep that in mind.
