everything still works, you just can't play online at all. I don't think you will get banned simply for being modded, as Microsoft can't detect that (yet). It's if you play a backed up or whatnot game that you run the risk, playing a game before release is bad, and playing it before release *while connected to the internet* is just silly. Which when you think about it is fairly nice, if they wanted to they could probably brick your console. I'm kind of wondering why people aren't working on a way to make the 360 connect to their own servers (though really only the drive is hacked). Now I'm just thinking out loud.
Though thinking about it, legally they probably can't do that because it is YOUR console. They can just deny your service to THEIR servers.
@Cmann - don't think you were the first ones to mock the rims. I know they're cheap, I know they're shit, but they came with the car. I could've gotten new, slightly better rims and shit tires or kept these rims and got kickass tires. needless to say I got the tires.
I don't steal movies or music. I do d/l stuff like WRC that I simply can't get here, and since I still see all the sponsor ads and such that's kinda grey area. Anyways.
As far as bans go, I wouldn't be surprised that a publicly upped security checker got bypassed my MS. Either you'll want to use a better, more private one if you can, or go find a RRoD to fix or a cheap used Arcade to mod/use online if you got TEH BANT STICK.
If you run 2 consoles I would also not suggest using your main harddrive/mem card on the modded one, as who knows what Microsoft might stick in there to keep track of what you play, should you play a game ahead of release.
That is my bit of helpfulness, I also suggest only pirating games to try them out/play before release and if a game actually is good, please support the developers and buy it. Similar deal with movies that are out of theatres but not on DVD yet. That is all.
