why use 2 routers tho?
and since u only have 4 computers that connects via wire, y not get a 4port+wireless router, run 2 lan cables to ur parents computer, then 2 lan cables to ur own computers. i suggest the D-Link DIR-655 router, its a bit more expensive but totally worth it.

As for why two routers, it's not feasible to pull three cables from the first floor and across the house to the second floor. A single cable was easier (and at the time, was only intended to run one computer).
A second router/hub could be purchased for Gigabit, provided the first one is as well. Just not sure what i should be looking for.
