you don't need anything to get into the states. Canada requires up to date rabies vaccine to get back in. So make sure before you go your pets rabies has not expired. They usually don't ask but still good to have just in case. Other then that I would bring a bottle of water with tap water from home to mix with the water out there that way you don't end up having to deal with the runs from the water change. Also any food you bring up must be in the original package and sealed. I'd suggest buying a small bag of whatever you feed to take for the trip.
