I sit 1.5~2 feet away from my 32" TV - it is 1080p and looks great. 720p would've been too low res (only 1366x768) and the texts would've been way too big.

If you're using it mainly as a PC monitor you'll want 1080p (1920x1080), espeically if you sit close to it.
