While i've tried the direction changing with rewards to get him to stay behind me it gets annoying after awhile. I guess I could try sticking to it.
A dog who is pulling on the way home is not tired. A tired dog will not be pulling at the end of the leash. Step one "Tire" the puppy out. He is use to the routine of the walk. Change it and lengthen it. running will not tire them out only more time spent walking will. Then step two take the dog out front and work on teaching him/her to walk with you. A puppy will only truly learn when he is tired. Teach things like telling the dog "easy" or "back" using your leg to move in front or stop and wait till they come back to you if they are way up ahead. Training is seperate from excercise.
