I went to Ajisen in Richmond this past weekend and was thoroughly disappointed. The location was empty at dinner time on a Saturday night. The miso ramen had some decent tasting and fatty bbq pork, but the broth was bland. The ramen noodles were very unusual, being straight and cylindrical like (much like spaghetti), quite different than the crinkled and angular cut ramen noodles I'm used tp. I also had their katsu curry, and while the curry sauce was much better than most I've had locally, the katsu cutlet was chewy and tough, and the rice was hard.
To be honest, I found Ajisen no where near as good as the Denman/Robson three, and I really only enjoy Benkei of the three.
Benkei Review update: I updated my original post in this thread since I have been to Benkei twice since writing it. Both times I have received fatty tender bbq pork instead of the tough pork I received on my first visit.
