i guess it depends on what your goals are. explosive exercises will better develop power for sure, but you lose the benefits of the eccentric phase of the exercise. i've been seeing more and more people at the gym lately that are trying kipping type exercises, but everyone just seems to throw form right out the window and just try for max speed. it's funny watching them thrash around while they think they are training better than everyone else. not that i don't agree with kipping, but there is definitely a right and a wrong way to do it.
