That is true, but you can set the iron to LOW LOW and also to STEAM and it will perform the job, however.......if you start to melt the base to the point where it won't absorb wax, then you're hooped.
Irons, no matter steam irons or non steam irons have a graduated heat setting, from off-low-medium-high.
So as the iron is off, turn it on just enough.
Too hot of a setting the iron will burn the wax and then the wax is rendered useless, too cold isn't bad, however it will take you LONGER to wax your deck.
