I brought my D40 w/ me on Friday w/ the 18-55 attatched. I opened it up for security before they asked me and showed them the #'s on the attached lens. They wrapped a blue tag on the bag (proof it was checked, I guess) and I was on my way. They didn't, however, check the lens compartments on either side of the bag.
