M16 over FAL at a distance, IMO. With thermal it makes a great substitute for a proper sniper rifle - I like running it with thermal and silencer for Wasteland, Derail and Afghan.
Well, at least in HC. I don't play regular anymore so I can't say. The FAL is a killer rifle before you unlock M16 though.
