Of course he can move! I only close the door if I'm going out. Otherwise, after we wake up, we go for a 3hr run, he comes home, eats, goes into his crate and sleeps for 8hrs. Wakes up, plays with his toys, we run again and come home, eat again then play a lil bit n sleep. If you think a crate is cruel, then you don't understand crating dogs.
