i agree with not using dual at home.
i have a 24" and had a 17". the 17" was a full screen monitor so it was close to the vertical height of the 24" (16:9 ratio) but i rarely plugged in both at the same time. i find that on the 24, i don't need to maximize windows like i did with the 17 and there's enough screen space to view multiple things on screen.
