I was there when Canada played against the Russians during the Series of the Century in 1972. The Canadian team was booed off the ice when they lost to the Russian team 5-3. Booed off the ice. From that day on, Vancouver fans were known as bandwagoners. Some of the Team Canada players commented that they were glad to be playing clear across the other side of the planet.
