A Stabbing + A Shooting in Surrey Again (No Deaths)
Quote:
Violence in Surrey leaves city fighting for its image
Two shootings, two stabbings, two days, two dead
SURREY (NEWS1130) - A deadly shooting at a McDonald's on Saturday night followed by a fatal stabbing at a house party. This morning there has been more violence in Surrey and it comes as the city is fighting for its image.
This morning Surrey Mounties search for a suspect who stabbed and robbed a cabbie near King George and 128th and they are on the hunt for Robin Blanchard, a man they believe is armed and dangerous, who may be connected to an early morning shooting near the Guildford Golf Course.
Today's incidents may not be deadly but two this weekend were.
For people living in Surrey, there is new distress about the safety of this community. "I'm concerned about the people that walk the streets at night. You know, they are not safe anymore. The crack problem is getting out of hand and the gangs are getting out of hand. Something has got to change."
The irony of this weekend's violence isn't lost. Today the city unveils winning entries in a design competition that will makeover five town centres in an effort to rebuild a safe and family friendly image.
