Look at step 4 here. Most outbound servers require authentication to restrict people from using their servers as an outbound relay and prevent spamming. Just enter in your Gmail credentials and you should be good to go.

EDIT: use the setting provided by Gmail for your servers - don't use what's in the screen shot in the link I provided - that's for some other site but I wanted to use it to illustrate where to look for outbound authentication
