Having said that, I have an old 10 year old VAIO that is still going strong after numerous bumps and abuse, so it seems the Sony's are built well too. My 4 year old 17" HP laptop while still working is suffering from a dimming screen and does not seem as well built as my other laptops.

I dropped my vaio down a flight of stairs at SFU.
Nothing broke, the only thing that happend was the SD card fell out.
