If you look on the left side of the laptop, the network jack is just next to the VGA (monitor) port. You should see the little network icon in the system tray (by the clock) try to connect and eventually get an IP. After that, it should work.
yeah sorry that's what I meant about registering. I will try this, thanks I plugged the blue cord from shaw's modem that I had originally had hooked into my computer up until yesterday into the only spot on my laptop it would fit. It was on the left side. but it didn't work so that's what got me confused cause I had thought it was that easy.

vafan it has internet cause I can see wireless no prob, tons of it, but I don't have anyone's passwords There's even a motel I could connect to just a block away
