I think you are getting cocky confused with being an asshole. Kobe, Lebron MJ, have all been cocky.
The non-incident Lebron had with the ballboy was not because he is cocky, maybe more so because he's a dick. As for the dancing, he's a young guy in the NBA and more so than ever theres a fusion between sports and celebrity and music, so I think it's more of a culture thing. Wade does it, anyone who can do it, should. When has basketball ever been a gentleman's sport? Showmanship is what they guys do!
As for Jordan or Kobe being "cocky" off the court.

That's cocky. He sugar coated it a bit, but that was cocky.
