I watch this show as well. The episodes you have watched so far were originally suppose to be
all apart of season 1. However, NBC cancelled the show before they showed all the episodes made, and TNT picked it up. TNT decided to broadcast the unaired episodes as Season 2. This is why each "season" is so short.
BTW, TNT renewed Southland. It'll return next January with new episodes.
