I would say that's not true.
One 20lb propane bottle fill costs $20 nowadays. I can get at least 4 months out of a propane bottle, grilling 3 times a week.
One 8kg bag of lump charcoal costs $10, and lasts for maybe a dozen uses or less.
I know charcoal briquettes are cheaper, but I would never use them. I do not want things like borax, sodium nitrate, limestone and parrafin (the ingredients of charcoal briquettes) anywhere near my food.
Lump charcoal is at least made completely from hardwood, no other additive shit.
