I got a mbp 17". The two silent fans runs at 2000rpm and ssd drive. You have to put your ear right next to the keyboard late at night to hear any noise.  |
Actually I have 3 SSD's one in each of my laptop/netbook/MID. But I get them for speed and power savings. My vaio p and timeline didn't make any noise when they had the regular HDD installed. In fact the Vaio P is fanless. You practically had to put your ear up against them to hear it. Since OP looking for a desktop replacement I think the larger spinning drive vs. the smaller ssd would be a better option $$ wise. Most of the time its the fan that makes the most noise anyways.
