I still think it's too big for that purpose. All this info can be stored on a cell phone. I was able to get around New York a few years back with my old Winmo phone. Garmin, Tom Tom, iGo, iGuidance, etc... you have a lot of choices for offline navigation on a cell phone. I actually used it the last few roadtrips, it got me to Vegas and LA, I used to have the passenger hold a laptop with a GPS receiver on the roof. I still bring the laptop to view movies but I can easily go without it now.
I recently made the move to Android so I don't know how the next trip will go, doesn't seem to be as many GPS programs for Android as there are for Winmo.
