If it's Type II they have (adult onset) it has nothing to do with genetics. They are giving it to themselves by eating an excessive amount of carbohydrates every day.
If it's Type I, that is another matter.
The good thing about visceral fat is that it is usually the first to be 'burned off'. Just drop carbs from your diet, and do resistance training. It's pretty simple!
