IMO... Never, ever buy sunglasses locally unless they're under $200 retail price (or you're filthy rich and don't care).

Found that some of their sunglasses and eyeglasses end up being the same when purchased locally.
I have never paid tax on a product I purchased on Ebay (except for the rare occasion when the seller is from Canada, and I had to pay 5% GST).

The trick is to ONLY order from Ebay sellers that ship via USPS Priority Mail International. USPS, as far as I know, does not charge a brokerage fee.

I purchased from these exact sunglasses from this exact seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280513005105

They arrived via USPS, and I paid absolutely no duties, taxes, or brokerage fees. The mailman simply handed me the package, I signed for it, and that was that. After shipping fees and currency conversion, they cost exactly $202. (In Sunglass Hut, locally, the same glasses were $421 after tax, so I saved $219 by buying online).

FYI, buying off Ebay is safe 99% of the time if you purchase from reputable sellers with excellent feedback ratings. I prefer 10,000+ transactions with a 98%+ feedback rating. There's absolutely no way the merchandise is fake if they meet that criteria, and even if it is you'll be able to tell immediately upon opening the box. Advertising fake goods as authentic and ripping people off is a surefire way to get banned from Ebay.
