Shaw PACE DCT Can't Record TV with a DVD-Writer?

I remember someone on here worked for shaw i just can't remember who :P

was wondering if you could give some info as to why a dvd writer cant record whats on tv..

Im not trying to backup what the Pace box recorded (i dont have a harddrive hooked up to it)

Im just trying to use my dvd burner as my vcr and record some tv (not even HD content as ive only got a coaxial cable hooked up to my samsung recorder)

but i keep getting a "cant record copyrighted movie" message

i wasnt even trying to record a movie -_-

i checked out the digitalhome.ca website and they said the only way around it is to buy a "video stabilizer" to get around the signal that wont let you record

anyhow they said the only way to get some answers is to speak to a tech rep and not a customer service rep to find out if its Shaws intention to include a CGMS-a signal on all content -_-

this is so retarded... my Motorola never had this problem

anyone else have this problem with their Pace DCT?
