And I'm not sure but did their fathers and grandfathers back in the day dive and grab their leg in agony whenever there's the slightest contact?
Assuming they didn't and instead of cracking down on diving they keep with "tradition" and let it go. Does this make the game better?

Its not the same game when you rely on technology to make the calls for you. The result of using cameras to make calls is that the referee becomes lazier and more dependent on technology. And you can't say technology makes our lives more efficient because its a given fact that technology is disruptive.
People always believe that technology will improve everything (and yes, its awesome having the things we have today), however, technology causes us to focus on other things and creates new problems (example, people used typewriters at work, computers were introduced, people started to do more than just work with computers). Or how about the Zamboni incident at the skating oval. Yes, its a "nice to have" but it causes other things than work to happen. I mean you wonder, why didn't anyone just check to make sure the Zamboni was working properly? Its such a simple task.
Result from this added technology is that the referee becomes "lazier" and he starts to miss other calls. Next thing you know people will want cameras following every player to make sure nobody gets hit. After each hit, ref gets someone to review the tapes causing the game to become even longer. Shit, all of a sudden you realize we're watching FOOT-BALL, not "futbol".
