Too bad your experience wasn't up to par, cause when I've gone, I would at least call it fair or better.

Just did Angkor Restaurant tonight.
http://dinehere.ca/vancouver/angkor-restaurant

I went there on a recommendation from a friend.
And I must admit, she did not steer me wrong at all.

The place is small and unassuming, it's a typical family run tiny asian place in a strip mall.
Cuisine: Cambodian/Southeast Asian.
We went for a late dinner at 8:00pm and it was empty.
Thus service was perfect and attentive.

The owner/family were just sitting at a table to the side quietly chatting, we never even heard them.

Prices are between $6.50-$8.00 for a meal.
Sizes will feed an average appetite, maybe a little less since the gentle use of vinegar and fried garlic really bring out the hunger.

We had:
  • Seafood Egg Noodles (dry): AMAZING. I will rank this in the top 5 noodles dishes I've ever had. Noodles al dente. Fresh cuttlefish, cuttlefish balls, imitation crabmeat? (yeah, it actually works), topped with fried garlic and cilantro. YUM.
  • Hainamese Chicken: Quality. Chicken was moist. Ginger sauce is miles better than anywhere else I've tried. It comes with ginger rice, but it was probably a bit below average. But what the heck, it was at no extra charge (wasn't even mentioned on the menu).
  • Lemongrass Porkchop: Above average. Good flavor, not dry. Rice, no complaints. Fried egg served sunny-side-up, yolk half set (i prefer more runny, but that's just a preference). Fish sauce, well above average.

Whole-heartedly recommended.
I will definately be making a return trip.
ate at this place today. Mom and pop shop. Very good. The chicken wings were awesome, and I got the dry noodle seafood as recommended. Filled with cambodians so you know its good.
