I know it sucks. but on the bright, jailbreakme still works with ipad.
I have itether($5 from Cydia) on iphone4 and tethering thru BT which battery last a lot longer than mywi($20 thru rock) if anyone is interested. Now as long as my wife is close by (it's her iphone4), I can simply turn on itether from my ipad and have internet access anywhere I go.
