Not being a dick and being understanding with them is a plus. But don't be TOO nice or you wont' get anything. I learned that myself.
Say you don't feel you're getting the best plan for that price especially when your friend has a better one. Say you just you're not looking for anything crazy but just something decent you can be happy with.
