Downhill biking at Whistler
Tried this for the first time yesterday, WOW! If you like mountain biking and are looking for a challenge, this is it!
I'm one to dive head first into activities, anything to get the adrenaline going, yet holy crap looking down a rock face with loose rocks, bigger boulders, drop offs and huge holes is intimidating. I wiped out a ton trying all kinds of courses. My hands are sore today from the death grip I had on my bars and brakes.
The cooler weather and shorter days means there's less riders on the mountain until Oct 11 when it closes, so it is a good time to try if you're interested.
Does anyone here do this often? I'd love some tips of how to corner better, I found it really hard to hang off the back of the bike, keep a finger on the brakes, and still whip the front wheel around the trees.
