Shures (I'm assuming you're referring to the IEM's) are noise isolating. The plugs block outside sounds. They're OK (I have a set of E2c's) but not so great during take off/landing when the air pressure in the cabin changes. You need to occasionally take them off as the pressure changes and pop your ears otherwise it gets uncomfortable.

As overpriced as Bose are, they are a pretty comfortable set of headphones with fairly decent quality audio. (especially the circumaural pair) There's others out there by Sony, Audio Technica, Sennheiser (and most of the major brands) that you can look into for a lot less.
