I personally love the whole "appear online" to certain people one-by-one while you're appearing offline. That's the only new feature I like compared to the old version.

But yeah, I totally agree how a lot of changes seem inferior to the previous versions. I mean, the whole display name firstname+lastname bit is pretty ridiculous, for starters. As for the mandatory two-way video instead of having the option of one-way feeds.... well good thing I use Skype for that. MSN-M is merely for chatting with my friends who actually still use it. Skype is pretty much superior in almost every way in comparison.
