That might be true.
Allow me to restate my point.
Given the same internet speeds, with tests done back to back on the same day.
New router, WNR3500L, can achieve 27-29MB/sec.
The old router, WRT54G, can only achieve 14-15MB/sec.
This means picking a good router and good firmware will affect the speeds your ISP is allowing you to use.
