Like instead of military press, you do overhead dumbbell press one side at a time. Or single leg dumbbell deadlifts instead of standard deads. There are a lot of single limbs thrown in his programs. It allows you to lift more explosively near your rep max, since it will be much lower. Also it works stability muscles for higher neural activation.
