Aren't GPUs soldered onto the board for Laptops?

Take some trouble shooting measures, plug in a separate monitor to see if it displays correctly. if it does, chances are the GPU is fine. Most of the time the tell-tale sign that a GPU has been burn is if it starts displaying artifacts and random numbers or characters at post and while you boot into your OS. It could be a slight case of something loose as mentioned above like a ribbon to the LCD.
