i work on my grip rather than use straps so i can someday do this.

stronger grip = bigger numbers on pretty much all your lifts. even on pressing movements.
grip strength is what makes you manly. tearing phone books and a deck of cards, bending nails, opening jars, bone crushing handshakes, hauling heavy things in your hands, climbing stuff, chopping wood.
i'm also a firm believer in fixing your weaknesses/imbalances.
