what i used to do before i bought an ASA was leave remote desktop enabled on my home server.
that way i could remote in and access whatever files/docs i wanted, and also use the remote desktop drive mapping to transfer files.
its somewhat insecure, but just make sure you change the remote desktop port to a non-standard one (stick to something 5000+). you can do that on the computer with a registry hack, which i never had any success with on 2008r2. or use your router to translate incoming port 5555 to outgoing port 3389 and forwarding to your computer.
and of course use a very strong password.
