With Edler stepping up like he is and with Salo's injury history, my money is on Gillis parting ways and letting Salo earn his final paycheques elsewhere a la Ohlund / Mitchell. "Thanks for your service, now go cash in."

Is it just me, or do a lot of d-men play great in Vancouver, and then fall off the map (or at least regress significantly) when they go elsewhere to cash in on the rep they built in Vancouver? Maybe its just a function of guys getting hyped and lots of media attention in a heavy hockey market, kinda like Leafs players getting hyped and then sucking when they get traded to the Flames
Happened with Bryan Allen, Baumer when he went to Philly, Sopel when he was traded to the Islanders, arguably Ohlund...
For the most part we've been really lucky at getting guys at the right point in their careers and having them reach their potential while in Van
