i can press more with fatgripz than with regular barbell/dumbell. less straining on your wrist.
i've been doing other gripwork as well, but all of that and fatgripz has helped my gi grip. nobody can break my grip in judo anymore.
that and my farmers walk with regular dumbells has gone from 70s to 120s. my gym doesn't have any higher dumbells so i don't know how much higher i can go. i just go for distance now.
