A few things off the top of my head.

Bigger doesn't mean you will see more.
TV resolutions max out at 1080P, which is 1920x1080. Your 23" monitor might be the same resolution, so things will only be physically bigger.

If you plan on using it on a desk, you will need to sit further back to see the whole screen or you need to move you head to see the sides of the TV screen.

TV's are also designed to be seen further away, so the minimum brightness on a TV might be higher than monitors. This depends on the TV tho.

Finally TV's emit a lot more heat. I can feel the heat when I stand in front of my LCD TV. You could say it's a pro in the winter, but in the summer...
