I'm not forgetting that he was being filmed. But who the hell cares? I'd rather have them with a boring vid of me walking away instead of one of me getting stomped plus the ambulance blaring to my rescue. And just because you find it a reasonable response to harrassment doesn't mean it's the best way. It'll also probably get you in the same situation as the OP in a similar future situation.
Drunks like that feed off any kind of RESPONSE. Walk away and ignore it and 99% of the time, they'll just get bored with it and leave.
If you don't believe me, just compare two situations and tell me which one has a higher probability of you getting out without confrontation:
1) Turn around, film them, SHOW that you're paying attention to them and that they're getting to you
2) Walk away, ignore them, if they persist, then RUN or do whatever the hell you need to get away
